NYSDOT TO HOST PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING FOR CLAYTON VILLAGE RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT, JEFFERSON COUNTY
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public information meeting Tuesday, June 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. to provide a public update on the project to reconstruct State Route 970L in the Village of Clayton. The meeting will be held at the Clayton Village Municipal Building, 425 Mary Street, Clayton, NY 13624.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide an update on and an overview of the proposed project and to answer questions related to the project. The proposed traffic control plan will be explained as will possible construction schedules. The evening will include an opening meet and greet at 5 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 5:30 and will conclude with an informal open house and representatives addressing individual questions.
The proposed project will reconstruct a portion of James Street and Webb Street and all Riverside Drive between James and Webb Street. The project will replace subsurface utilities and is expected to relocate overhead utilities through the historic district. The project will utilize one-way traffic plans to mitigate congestion and expedite construction as well as temporary street closures during the day to facilitate the work. The project is expected to be bid late this fall and be completed late in 2020.
